Description
The Canal du Midi needs no introduction, you’ve probably heard it mentioned many times ! Now it’s your turn to explore its banks, from Toulouse to Carcassonne, via the capital of cassoulet, Castelnaudary! Pedal safely along the river banks, take a picnic break at a lock and discover the medieval city of Carcassonne. The bucolic landscapes of the countryside and the many barges will accompany you throughout this family bike trip.

D1 Arrival in Toulouse
You arrive in Toulouse at the end of the day. Settle into your room and enjoy the rest of the day exploring the city and its history.
Dinner and overnight in a 3* hotel.
D2 Cycling from Toulouse to Baziège
29 km – Duration : 2h
Off you go! This first day on the bike will give you a chance to gently get into the swing of things. The terrain is flat and well stabilized, and the plane trees lining the canal provide pleasant shade along the bike route. You leave the cycle route to reach your accommodation for the night.
Dinner and night in a charming guesthouse.
D3 Cycling from Baziège to Castelnaudary
39 km – Duration : 2h30
Continue your journey by bike towards Castelnaudary. The many barges on the river set the pace, and serenity is the watchword of the day. Take a break at a lock, where young and old alike will be delighted to discover its ingenious mechanism. Arrive at your accommodation for the night, and take time to take a tour of the great basin opposite, an attraction no less famous than the town’s cassoulet!

D4 Cycling from Castelnaudary to Bram
16 km – Duration : 1h30
Today a short stopover awaits you. This will enable you to discover Bram and its nautical zone: teleskiing, swimming, paddling… Many activities are possible here, and there’s also an area where you can eat and drink.
A superb greenway also starts at the entrance to Bram, if you’d like to continue cycling, or take the whole family for a stroll. Ask your host for advice.

D5 Cycling from Bram to Carcassonne
27 km – Duration : 2h
On this last day of cycling, the landscape opens up to allow you to admire the surrounding hills. Soon you’ll catch sight of the superb city of Carcassonne. Don’t miss a tour of the fortified town, with its moats, towers and narrow streets.
Return to the heart of the city to reach your accommodation for the night.
Dinner and overnight stay in a charming guesthouse in the heart of the city.
D6 Breakfast and departure
After enjoying a delicious home-style breakfast, head to Carcassonne station to catch the train to your vehicle in Toulouse.

The hire bikes for our France tours are of good quality and come equipped with bags, bottle clips, and of course safety helmets. Children’s full- and half-bikes, kid-trailers and baby-seats are also available. The actual make of your cycle varies from one region to another.
