Description

This is an incredible 7 day / 6 night walking holiday that traverses two countries by crossing the Pyrenees Mountain range from France into Spain.

The tour starts in the beautiful coastal French Mediterranean village of Collioure, and you will spend the next 4 days walking across the coastal Pyrenees mountain range on your way to Cadaques, the coastal village made famous by the artist Salvador Dali.

 

Itinerary

Example itinerary:
    1. Arrive to Collioure – Enjoy your arrival day exploring one of the prettiest coastal villages of the Côte Vermeille region of France.
    2. Collioure to Banyuls Sur Mer – Enjoy the stunning views over the bay of Collioure on your way to the 13th century watchtower of the Tour de Madaloc. Then followed by a steady descent to Banyuls Sur Mer along the way of extraordinary dry-stone walls. Overnight in Banyuls in a charming hotel.
      (approx 12km 321m climbing)
    3. Banyuls sur Mer to Portbou (Spain) – Hiking in the direction of the ruins of the Tor de Querroig castle, along the Walter Benjamin path. You will cross the vineyards of Banyuls sur Mer. After climbing you will arrive at the Spanish-French border, with the option to climb to the Tor de Querroig castle (670 m). The remaining walls of the castle from the 10th century and the tower of the 14th are the ruins of the Treaty of the Pyrenees (1659). Descend to the town of Portbou to take a local train to Llança and then walk to  your hotel, which is situated 50 metres from the beach. (23km 674m climbing – local train to Llança)
    4. Llança to Port de la Selva – Climbing to the monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes. At 480 m high, you are greeted with one of the most spectacular views of your trip. The monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes is a monumental building of the 11th century. It was occupied by the Benedictine order. (approx 13km 560m climbing)
    5. Port de la Selva to Cadaques – Walking from Port de la Selva to Cadaques by a wild route, crossing of Cap de Creus nature park. Windswept by the “Tramontana” wind the Cap de Creus offers a lunar landscape. Following a picturesque trail lined with centuries-old dry stone walls and descend into Cadaqués, famous for the Grand Master, Salvador Dali. (SHORT approx 13km 360m climbing, LONG approx 18km 500m climbing)
    6. Cadaques – Extra day in Cadaques with option to visit Salvador Dali’s studio in Port Lligat.
    7. Departure
